Ricardo Rivera

Baritone Ricardo Rivera is a versatile artist with a refined artistic sensibility and a flair for the dramatic.

Mr. Rivera has had many opera roles composed for him. Recently he performed Theseus in the world premiere of Chris Park’s opera Phaedra and Hippolytus. He will perform the principle role in Matthew Welsch’s opera "Borges and the Other: a dance opera” with Mr. Welsch’s ensemble Blarvuster at Roulette this April and the principle role in the world premiere of Dr. Robert Cuckson’s opera A Night of Pity at the Mannes College of Music this fall.

Mr. Rivera recently performed Steven Stucky’s “Four Poem A.R. Ammons” with the Flux Quartet under the baton of Stephen Black. He performed the world premiere of Aaron Dai’s composition for Soprano, Baritone, and Orchestra “Con Furia” with the Chelsea Symphony this season. Also this season he will perform the Bass solos in Bach’s Missa Brevia in A and the Beethoven Choral fantasy in addition to composition’s by composer Ronnie Reshef with the Callner-Campos-Neta pick-up Orchestra.

This summer Mr. Rivera will attend Opera North as a Young Artist. He will perform Morales in Carmen and Fiorello in Il Barbiere di Siviglia there.

Mr. Rivera is a recipient of the Richard F. Gold career grant.
