As music teacher in charge of heritage programs, Kathryn Arizmendi has developed shorter original music dramas performed at assembly programs and other school functions. All this was done most uncomfortably - "by the seat of my pants", she claims.

A Dalcroze Eurhythmics specialist (certified through Manhattan School of Music), she improvises music for specific kinds of learning activities, and focuses on teaching musicianship and improvisation/composition. She is currently working on a system for the teaching of improvisation for pianists alone, as well as for ensemble.

Another component of her projects is the production of a usable, annotated edition of the Dalcroze Solfege Rhythmique.

As her goals are strongly pedagogical, she calls herself a neophyte to the world of compostion. She hosts a small improvisation circle in her apartment. Having participated in many writing circles, she is delighted to be a part of the New York Composers Circle.
